Bala Cynwyd, PA — After an 18 month pandemic caused hiatus, SMB returned to action at McMoran Park for opening day 2021.  John Minsker announced the passing of Frank Dusty Welsh, a good guy, an SMB Hall of Famer, and the original keeper of the stats writer of the recaps.

The Away’s jumped out to an early 10-1 lead after 3 innings with numerous hits off Home’s pitcher Dave Dorn including a Rob Hannon 3 run blast to right, for his first career SMB home run.

In the bottom of the 4th the Home’s responded with 9 consecutive batters stroking 1 out hits including a Matt Troncelliti grand slam. 12 runs total in the frame provided the Home’s a lead they would never relinquish.

Staked to a lead Dorn settled down from there, relying on stellar defense at 3rd from Mike Carolla and his outfielders (From left to right: Rob Dorn, Rick Tull, Frank Cianciulli & Matt Troncelliti) giving up only 5 more runs in 12 innings.

The Home’s continued their offensive barrage by tacking on runs in every inning but the 5th and 7th including another 3 run blast from Matt Troncelliti for a total of 26 men crossing the plate.
